How NFC Smart Rings Work (No App Required)

What Is NFC?
NFC stands for Near Field Communication. It's the same technology behind Apple Pay, Google Pay, and contactless credit cards. Your phone already has an NFC reader built in — every iPhone since iPhone 7, and virtually every Android from the past several years.
What's Inside the Ring?
Inside every iJustTap ring is a tiny NFC chip and antenna loop. The chip stores a URL — a link to your digital profile page. The antenna harvests just enough energy from your phone's NFC field to power the chip and transmit that URL. No battery needed, ever.
The Tap Process Step by Step
1. You hold your ring near the top of someone's phone (where the NFC reader is). 2. The phone detects the ring's NFC signal. 3. The URL stored in the ring is read and opened in the phone's browser automatically. 4. Your digital profile appears — name, contact info, social links, portfolio. The whole process takes under a second.
Does the Other Person Need an App?
No. NFC is a native phone feature. On iPhone, NFC reads happen at the OS level — Safari opens the link automatically. On Android, Chrome or the default browser handles it. Neither person needs to download anything.
Can I Change What the Ring Links To?
Yes. The ring links to your iJustTap profile URL. Log into your account, update your profile, and the next tap immediately shows the new info. The ring itself never needs to be reprogrammed.
